This book focuses on a special segment of the student population:
youngsters who are failing in school and yet are functioning successfully
outside the learning environment. This group includes those identified as
demonstrating handicapping conditions, students from diverse cultures, and
children who are minors yet are living independently. Working from a social
system perspective, the contributors to this volume provide us with
significant information on what can be achieved by these students when
they are educated and nurtured in a supportive and responsive setting.
