This volume brings together a diverse group of scholars, taking a
broad-based view of professional development for teacher educators and
focusing on endeavors that can be integrated as fully as possible into
ongoing responsibilities. Although the central concern of the book is how
teacher educators can enhance their pedagogical abilities, it also
discusses how to nourish a collective commitment as faculty to a learning
community that can maximize teacher educators' growth as scholars and
their ability to better serve a variety of clients. In addition Informing
Faculty Development for Teacher Educators addresses the corporate
commitment necessary to achieve a program of preservice preparation and
the particular challenges confronting clinical faculty members, their
responsibilities, and the relationship between faculty members in schools
and colleges of education and those in elementary and secondary
schools.
